Atticus broke from cover, running across the open area towards the side of the building. The first creature didn’t turn fast enough to see him coming, taking a knife in the side of the head and dropping to the ground. The other one, which was about ten yards away, trying to get inside, turned in response to the noise.

It let out a moan and staggered towards him. Atticus wasn’t worried about the noise, since that high-pitched sound was more than enough to cover it for the zombies in front. He calmly walked up to the creature, jamming the knife directly into its forehead and shoving it to the side.
